The skirt or dress over pants look has been gaining momentum since the Fall’12 shows featured the questionable pairing. We’ve seen this trend before, but the look never really ever catches on for most of us off-the-runway. While designers like Joseph and Prada envisioned women wearing skirts over pants this fall, this trend continued to pop-up on the recent collections for next spring.
Givenchy Spring’13 skirt slash kilt layered over skinny tuxedo trousers is a fresh silhouette that is minimal, clean and sharp for evening. I also loved the asymmetrical ruffled dress over pants. This pairing doesn’t have to come across too club kid, too ‘90s grunge or too boho, it can be a more grown-up mix of all the above – as seen at Joseph’s perfectly innovative collection for this fall. Joseph did a great job adding a utilitarian twist to the trend for day and night.
