Clyde designer Dani Griffiths has made a name for herself designing some of the coziest knit and crochet cold weather accessories. However, for Fall/Winter’12 the Brooklyn-based designer is adding millinery to her expanding repertoire with a gorgeously crafted collection of chapeaux. These amazing classic velour felted toppers add the chicest finishing touch to any look.
“I reach for my signature pieces time and time again because I love getting the most out of my clothes,” says Grasie Mercedes, a born and raised New Yorker who moved to the West Coast to pursue her dream of acting, on her daily wardrobe necessities. Since settling in L.A., the Latina beauty has racked up a ton of commercial spots, a handful of acting parts on the small and big screen, and Mercedes also flexes her comedy chops doing sketch comedy with Top Story!
Sweatshirts are having a big fashion moment and none more than the sold out ‘80s airbrushed Balenciaga galactic iteration. During this recent Fashion Week season, you couldn’t click through a street-style blog without spotting everyone from celebrities, models, fashion bloggers to editors donning this boxy Sci-Fi-inspired sweatshirt with a whopping price tag of $3,150! While the sought-after top is taking the fashion world by storm, we couldn’t help but wonder what men, outside of the fashion industry bubble, think about the revival of this geek chic top.
While fashion bloggers like to play model on their blogs and nowadays are actually getting hired to model, Rag & Bone’s D.I.Y. Project allows real models to be fashion bloggers. It’s like a fashion web Freaky Friday!
Rag & Bone handpicked the girls who they felt embodied the brand’s cool downtown aesthetic they’re known for and gave them a camera and a bag of clothes to document the way they wear their Rag & Bone.
This sharp two tone, navy and black, wool Carven coat ($865) has been stalking me since I came across it at Farfetch.com. I then spied two women wearing it at an event last week and fell in love with the jacket. I love the structured tailored fit that accentuates the waistline, the round neck and the curved hem and tonal stitching that gives the illusion of a peplum hem.
For Fall/Winter ’12-13 Stella Jean picks up where she left off with her chic Spring/Summer ’12 collection. Wax cotton African and Caribbean inspired prints cut in retro 1960’s silhouettes are this Haitian-Italian designer’s forte and she continues to wow us with her unorthodox pairings in this current stand-out collection. Jean loves to mix prints and this season she artfully blends her colorful patterns with a dash of preppy and Scottish wool plaids for a vintage and offbeat feminine vibe.
Renowned street-culture and hip-hop photojournalists Martha Cooper, Joe Conzo and Jamel Shabazz have teamed up with DRKRM, a lifestyle and photo-centric brand, to translate their iconic images from paper to super-soft cotton t-shirts. “Besides TV and film, one of fashion’s biggest visual platforms is the photograph,” says DRKRM’s James “Koe” Rodriguez, who along with his partner Dan Sears had the difficult task of going through each Cooper, Conzo and Shabazz’s extensive collection to find the right images to complement their collection.
The Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection lookbook is out! This collection is inarguably the most anticipated H&M collaboration and the preview doesn’t disappoint. The merging of the avant-garde, minimalist Margiela with the commercial fashion chain epitomizes Margiela’s signature approach to design: smart, conceptual and modern but finally at a price point we can all get with. |
