Maje never fails when it comes to designing no-fuss crave-worthy classic basics for round-the-clock cool. The French label has been on our list of faves for some time now and this season’s lookbook is a reminder of how much we can’t get enough of their chic uniform of essential wool skirts, leather and knits.
Take a cue from Lanvin’s Spring 2013 collection and set your look apart this festive party season by switching up your quintessential LBD for a sharp tuxedo. This reconstructed take on cocktail dressing, made famous in 1966 by YSL with its iconic Le Smoking, is an effortless way to maximize your dress code. While a black jacket, black pant and a white shirt have long been the conventional color theme for tuxes, deviate from the classic recipe for a noteworthy spin on the classic.
Not sure what the stats are for the number of sweaters given as gifts on Christmas, but I’m confident the number is high, very high. I’m also pretty sure that the majority of fugly Christmas sweaters in the U.S. always make its way to me in beautifully wrapped boxes that always succeed in hiding the horror that is neatly folded inside.
When sisters Darlene and Lizzy Okpo first launched their womenswear line, William Okpo, they didn’t have to look too far for inspiration. Their laid-back, contemporary and eclectic personal style made the unique design duo the perfect downtown muses for their line, but four seasons into building this growing brand, they’ve learned that not only should they rely on their own fresh stylistic trademarks but to cultivate a thriving business they must think big.
If you’re racking your brain trying to figure out what to gift the fashionable gal or fringueuse in your life this Christmas, let us suggest a long-sleeve striped top and not just any run-of-the-mill striped top but the O.G. of all striped tops: The Breton made by Saint James. Sure, it may not be the flashiest piece of clothing to present as a gift but we can guarantee you that she’ll get so much use out of this classic piece that she’ll wonder how she ever got dressed without it or how she settled for disposable substitutes all these years.
This month’s Elle France features a lively editorial, ‘Bright Stars’, shot by photographer Simon Burstall with happy models Ataui Deng & Marihenny Rivera. We’re loving how stylist Elissa Cannelle Castelbou chose a punchy, colorful and graphic menswear slash sportswear theme that instantly cast these classic pieces in a new vibrant and playful light. Ataui and Marihenny look like they had a ball shooting this editorial, and it most definitely put a smile on our faces! |
