Jason Wu isn’t known for churning out femme fatal frocks, but for Spring ’13 the designer is exploring his dark side with a smoldering collection inspired by Helmut Newton’s provocative photographs. Wu deftly mixed leather, lace and lingerie (in collaboration with La Perla) to construct darkly feminine pieces. He sent models, including a surprise appearance by Carolyn Murphy, down the catwalk in covetable leather sheaths, laser-cut hemmed full leather skirts (read about the full leather skirt trend here), bandeau tops, shorts and laced trimmed trousers.
Cushnie et Ochs design the kind of dresses that exude strength and sex appeal. Celebrating women’s curves in second-skin silhouettes has been this design duos’ forte since introducing their brand of cocktail hour dressing back in 2009. It’s no wonder that celebrities like Jessica Alba, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth and Kerry Washington turn to the label when they want to make a statement on the red carpet.
The buzz has been building around New York designer Tanya Taylor since she debuted her quirky-cool line last New York Fashion Week. The former Elizabeth & James designer’s vintage-inspired silhouettes, mod prints and flouncy dresses were a hit. On September 5th, Taylor revealed her new collection at the Museum of Modern Art for this year’s NYFW.

Fast-forward to today, and it’s clear that editors and fashion insiders have become the real stars of most street-style blogs.
Ok, so it’s finally here! Tonight is Fashion’s Night Out. A night devoted to the (over) consumption of fashion and style.
More than 700 hundred stores in N.Y., and countless more in 500 different cities around the world, will stay open late just so you can spend, spend, spend and forget about your bills, bills, bills!
Even in the midst of this summer’s printed denim mania, the classic white jean continued to reign as the perfect neutral denim that works for casual and dressed up occasions. Despite its versatility, the universally loved white jean has been pigeon-holed as a summer bottom unsuitable to wear once the temperature drops. Even if archaic fashion rules mean nothing to you, in general white jeans aren’t the first denim style most reach for in the fall or winter.
“I don’t need a big important coffee table book right now,” says Scott Schuman, the leading street-style photographer better known as The Sartorialist about his new book of photographs, Closer. Since launching his popular blog in 2006, Schuman has inspired a bevy of professional and novice photographers around the world to pick up a camera and hit the streets in search of stylish pedestrians.
[slider_pro id=”1″] Similar to the women at Fashion Week, the men in attendance at the shows are dressed in their finest designer duds. Sightings of men wearing bright colors and mixed prints are proof that women aren’t the only ones having fun with fashion. Nevertheless, one of the most captivating sights during the men’s shows is actually a woman. |
