NYFW Spring ’13 Street-Style Part Deux

Part Deux of NYFW street-style!

Zac Posen Spring 2013

Zac Posen’s elegant collection got off to a dramatic start with supermodel Naomi Campbell opening the show in an  expertly cut feminine sweetheart-neck printed dress with a flippy hem. What followed was a string of ‘40s inspired romantic dresses in Posen’s signature corset bodice and jaw-dropping gowns replete with red-carpet trains and beautiful extras such as embroidery, chiffon, organza, tulle and pleating – which Posen has long proven himself to be a master of manipulating and mixing.

Marissa Webb Spring 2013

What will Marissa Webb’s debut collection look like? That had been the question on everyone’s lips since the former J.Crew head of women’s design left the company; which she had a hand in turning into a stylish powerhouse during her 11 years designing. At the presentation for her debut collection for Spring ’13, the design markers Webb made famous at J.Crew,

Trend Spotting at NYFW: Ankle-Straps

Remember how we were singing the praises of the ankle-strap shoe? It’s only been the start of NYFW and from the looks of the Spring ‘13 runways, the ankle strap will continue to thrive. We’re not surprised since this versatile silhouette can complement every look. Peter Som (above left) finished off his posh meets downtown collection with a hot pair of pointy-toe ankle strap shoes in metallic designed by Tabitha Simmons.

Jason Wu Spring 2013

Jason Wu isn’t known for churning out femme fatal frocks, but for Spring ’13 the designer is exploring his dark side with a smoldering collection inspired by Helmut Newton’s provocative photographs. Wu deftly mixed leather, lace and lingerie (in collaboration with La Perla) to construct darkly feminine pieces. He sent models, including a surprise  appearance by Carolyn Murphy, down the catwalk in covetable leather sheaths, laser-cut hemmed full leather skirts (read about the full leather skirt trend here), bandeau tops, shorts and laced trimmed trousers.

Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2013

Cushnie et Ochs design the kind of dresses that exude strength and sex appeal. Celebrating women’s curves in second-skin silhouettes has been this design duos’ forte since introducing their brand of cocktail hour dressing back in 2009. It’s no wonder that celebrities like Jessica Alba, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth and Kerry Washington turn to the label when they want to make a statement on the red carpet.

Tanya Taylor Spring 2013

The buzz has been building around New York designer Tanya Taylor since she debuted her quirky-cool line last New York Fashion Week. The former Elizabeth & James designer’s vintage-inspired silhouettes, mod prints and flouncy dresses were a hit. On September 5th, Taylor revealed her new collection at the Museum of Modern Art for this year’s NYFW.
