Fall collections are all about the outerwear for me. I love a great coat or jacket, and they are the basis of my looks for the fall and winter season. In fact, I need two closets in my apartment to house my growing collection. Unfortunately for my husband, my motto is you can never own too many jackets or coats.
Tom Ford’s Fall 2013 show was a circus of full-on color, textures and prints. This was truly an over the top collection and not for the wallflower. I’m not sure I could get away with wearing these looks as styled for the runway, but there most definitely were some very hot pieces I could see toning down teamed with some more somber pieces.
Since spotting Bermuda shorts on the Spring 2013 runways of DKNY and Rag and Bone, I’ve been looking forward to taking this new hemline out for a spin once the weather warms up. This tailored version is a great alternative to the same old high-waisted denim short shorts we’re so used to. I was happy to see this silhouette popping up again on the Fall 2013 runways at NYFW.
There’s an endless array of cool street-style mavens running around Paris at the moment and luckily for us, there are twice as many photographers on the loose capturing all the fabulous style moments. There’s so much amazing and eclectic off-the-runway looks at Paris Fashion Week, it’s a great place to find inspiration. From a chunky knit teamed with a maxi skirt, a sweater dress and statement scarf to a varsity jacket in a coat length and a peplum hem wool skirt paired with over-the-knee boots, here are 14 looks I’d love to wear this fall.
Back when we first launched Fringueuse, we introduced you to blogger Aliya Armorer. Her blog, of which we are big fans, the marant philes is a love letter to the French designers’ aesthetic and a look into her own personal collection of Isabel Marant ready-to-wear and accessories. Check out our post on her here.
We enlisted Armorer to give us her take on Isabel Marant’s latest Americana influenced Spring’13 collection.
LANVIN
Construction, or more specifically the re-construction, of classics was key at Lanvin with the tuxedo silhouette, pantsuits and the LBD undergoing a stunning architecturally tailored redesign that also found the designer delving into Japanese references.
HAIDER ACKERMANN
Haider Ackerman’s signature expert tailoring and layering continues to thrive for Spring’13. Floaty robes layered over blouses, sleeveless blazers held together at the waist with obi-style belts and romantic gowns layered over louche trousers.
You wouldn’t necessarily associate plaid with elegance but that’s exactly what Dries van Noten offered up for Spring’13. Van Noten may not be the first designer this fashion week season to dip back into the grungy ’90s for inspiration for next spring, but his gorgeous execution is what separates him from the pack.
The beauty of this collection is rooted in the unexpected contrast of the casual workman pattern, cut in precious organza and silk, with the refined femininity of flower embellished midi skirts and easy trousers all cut in a fluid and relaxed silhouette that added a big dose of cool to the looks. |
