I’ve featured a number of ladies on this blog who love to shop in vintage and thrift stores and have a great eye for picking out some incredible pieces. Theses ladies build stand-out looks that hint to the past but are also decidedly modern in the way in which they are styled and teamed with current pieces.
“I reach for my signature pieces time and time again because I love getting the most out of my clothes,” says Grasie Mercedes, a born and raised New Yorker who moved to the West Coast to pursue her dream of acting, on her daily wardrobe necessities. Since settling in L.A., the Latina beauty has racked up a ton of commercial spots, a handful of acting parts on the small and big screen, and Mercedes also flexes her comedy chops doing sketch comedy with Top Story!
Vancouver-based photographer Hana Pesut’s dual portrait series, Switcheroo, takes a gender-bending look at street-style fashion by having couples exchange complete looks – all the way down to the shoes and even hairstyles. Her captivating before and after photos challenge the concept of dressing according to gender and they also flirt with the notion of how clothes shape our identity.
Isabel Marant designs the kind of clothes that women want to live in. Since launching her coveted ready-to-wear line in 1994, it has come to define the cool and fuss-free approach to dressing synonymous with chic French girls. After discovering the label a few years back on international blogs, Aliya Armorer was hooked. As Armorer’s enviable collection of IM pieces grew, so did her fascination with the label and its designer. |
